About the Donor
Portcullis is a family-owned group of independent trust companies, with offices located in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Labuan, Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, the BVI, Samoa and the Cook Islands. They also maintain a licence in the Cayman Islands.
Portcullis commenced business in 1984 as a small part of a law practice in Singapore. In the 40 years since its inception, Portcullis has evolved into one of the largest Asian independent trust, fund and family office service providers.
Given their genesis, Portcullis continues to recruit professionals comprising lawyers, accountants, fiduciaries, industry-trained trust, company and fund administrators. They strongly believe that a commitment to maintaining a professional and qualified workforce, coupled with a strong sense of integrity in all they do, is the bedrock of longevity and resilience in this industry.
At Portcullis, they believe in cultivating a strong sense of character, community and empathy. As important as it is to do their utmost for our clientele, they feel that it is just as essential to remember their roots and support the less fortunate.
The Chairman & CEO of Portcullis, Mr David Chong, has always valued the importance of education, having been a university lecturer himself. His donation to SMU is motivated by his profound belief in the transformative power of education, as well as a gesture of appreciation aimed at strengthening the institution he holds in high regard. It is his way of investing in the next generation of leaders, innovators, and thinkers who will shape our world.
