About the Financial Award

Established in 2018, the Singapore Buddhist Lodge Bursary is availble to full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University.  It is aimed at assisting the financially needy as well as to motivate full-time undergraduates to achieve all-round excellence in their studies.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • With demonstrated financial needs (with gross monthly household income not exceeding the prevailing income tiers to qualify for government bursaries)

Tenure and Benefits

  • $3,000 (towards subsidised tuition fee)
  • Tenable for one year of study
  • May be in concurrent receipt of another bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.

Application

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the Donor

Founded in 1934, The Singapore Buddhist Lodge (SBL) is one of the Buddhist temples in Singapore.  SBL's objective is to propagate Dharma and to perform charitable undertakings.  Since its establishment, SBL has been very active in the following areas: organising pujas and Buddhism-related events; distribution of red packets to the aged during Lunar New Year; giving out bursaries to students of all races; reaching out to the less fortunate through its Family Service Centre and Chinese Free Clinics; and provision of free vegetarian meals to the public every day.
