About the Financial Award

Established in 2022, the Vertical Institute Study Award is available to full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University.  It aims to provide assistance to financially needy undergraduates at the University, to aspire for greater heights of excellence in spite of adversity and financial hardship.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme
  • Any nationality
  • Experienced financial hardships in the family (with gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with prevailing guidelines to qualify for government bursaries)

Benefits

  • $8,000 per annum (towards subsidised tuition fees)
  • Tenable for one year of study
  • May be in concurrent receipt of a bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.

Application

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the Donor

The Vertical Institute Study Award is established by Vertical Institute Pte. Ltd., an SMU alumnus-founded company. Vertical Institute specializes in teaching in-demand skills, building the next generation of changemakers and inventors through world-class tech bootcamps. With a philosophy of supporting the educational pursuits of students from financially challenged backgrounds, the alumnus decided to establish a study award, enabling deserving students to be exposed to the myriad of learning opportunities at SMU.
