About the Financial Award
Established in 2021, the G & Y Scholarship is available to full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University. It is aimed at motivating outstanding undergraduates, with demonstrated financial needs, to achieve academic excellence and to accord appropriate recognition to the recipients for their accomplishments.
Eligibility Criteria
- Full-time undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme and proceeding to third/final year of study.
- Singapore Citizens
- Good academic results (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00)
- Demonstrated leadership and communication skills with record of co-curricular activity and/or community service involvement.
- Demonstrated evidence of family financial difficulties with gross monthly household income not exceeding the prevailing guidelines to qualify for government bursaries.
Benefits
- $12,000 (towards subsidised tuition fees and study-related expenses)
- Tenable for one year of study
- May be in concurrent receipt of a bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.
Application
- Apply annually from 1 to 31 January via OASIS >Self-service App - Financial Aid Application
- Interview is required of shortlisted applicants.
- Submit two short essays:
- (no more than 300 words) Why are you deserving of this scholarship?
- (no more than 500 words for both parts) Assuming you are financially free, (a) What is the one entrepreneurship-related project that you are particularly passionate about? and (b) How do you plan to pursue this passion?

About the Donor
The donors are SMU alumni who are currently working in the venture capital industry. They have benefitted immensely from their time in SMU and would like to pay it forward and help students who have demonstrated a track record of success despite adversity.
Through this Scholarship, the donors hope to enable more students to experience the opportunities that SMU can provide, and to inspire philanthropy and encourage more social responsibility. Above all, they hope to cultivate students with existing entrepreneurial endeavours to succeed or to help students realize their entrepreneurship dreams through mentorship and guidance from the donors.
