About the Financial Award
Established in 2025, the Lillyn Teh Global Endeavour Grant is available to full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University. The purpose of the Global Endeavour Grant is to support full-time undergraduates at the University, with demonstrated financial needs, to embark on the (i) International Student Exchange Programmes (ISEP), (ii) Short-Term Study Programmes (SSP) or (iii) Global Internships (Internship), in order to allow them to have a more well-rounded worldview.
Eligibility Criteria
- Full-time undergraduates
- Any nationality, with a preference for Singapore Citizens
- Participating in international student exchange programmes with SMU partner universities
- Demonstrated evidence of family household income where the gross monthly per capita income is in accordance with prevailing per capita income guidelines of the Singapore Ministry of Education throughout the tenure of the Global Endeavour Grant. This per capita income criterion shall be reviewed from time to time in accordance with prevailing guidelines from the Ministry.
Tenure and Benefits
- $4,000 (Cover exchange-related expenses including air tickets, accommodation, living expenses, visa, insurance, health check-ups/vaccines, and/or study related expenses, as determined by the University)
- Tenable for one semester of study abroad with SMU partner university (within Asia, Europe or Americas)
Application for Exchange
Applications will be invited through Centre for Global Education and Opportunities' (CGEO) call for exchange and short-term study programme (SSP) :
- January to February (Fall exchange application)
- June to July (Spring exchange application)
- Winter short-term study programme (in Asia)
- Apply via Oasis > All Apps (Financial Aid Application)
Application for Internship
Applications will be invited through Dato’ Kho Hui Meng Career Centre internship :
- May to August (Summer internship period)
- December to January (Winter internship period)

About the Donor
Dr Lillyn Teh has long been a strong advocate for education as the cornerstone of shaping future pathways for young individuals. With her background in Finance and Computer Science, both as an academic and a practitioner with diverse industry experience, she has witnessed how the blending of the two disciplines has provided unique perspectives, facilitating the application of different tools and concepts to classic problems and new challenges.
Dr Teh was very fortunate to have benefitted from her parents' strong support and encouragement for her own educational journey and wishes to give back by enabling access to quality education which can help to realise the full potential of young people.
She believes very strongly that education is a catalyst for social mobility and economic prosperity and supports meaningful learning opportunities and initiatives that encourage curiosity, creativity and critical thinking. Dr Teh is committed to making a significant and lasting impact on individuals and communities in the University's educational journey, and seeks to make a difference in building a brighter future for generations to come.
Dr Teh was an educator and taught at two American universities before joining the private sector, including managing one of the largest US pension fund and responsible for US$60b in global equities. She is currently happily retired.
