No deserving undergraduate student will be denied an SMU education because of financial difficulty. Students who meet the eligibility requirements will be provided financial aid to help fund their studies at SMU.

Different schemes including notebook loans, bursaries, study abroad loans, grants, subsidies and book allowances are available. Some of the popular financial aid schemes are as follows:

Aim

  • Any nationality
  • With demonstrated dire need of financial assistance due to unforeseen financial crisis

The newly introduced SMU Access grant guarantees a financial aid package equal to 100% of tuition fees for financially needy Singaporean undergraduates – throughout their 4 years at SMU. This bold initiative is the first of its kind by any university in Singapore. There is no limit to the number of recipients covered under SMU Access, and this grant could benefit more than 80 students from every new cohort.

The recipient of the SMU Access Grant will be able to offset his/her tuition fees, after taking into account all scholarships, bursaries and other grants from all donors and the Singapore government. The grant amount is subject to a maximum of four years of undergraduate studies for every eligible student. This will effectively make the entire university education tuition-free for eligible students.

The SMU Access grant is bond-free.
