About the Financial Award

The SMU Overseas Student Educational Programme (OSEP) Subsidy is a financial assistance scheme by the University, establish with the aim to assist financially-challenged students in meeting some of their expenses when participating in a overseas student programmes.  Programmes include study missions, overseas internships, overseas community service projects or any other university-approved student educational programmes. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Financially-challenged full-time undergraduate students who have used all available loan schemes or subsidies up to 90% of the tuition fees payable by Singaporean students
  • Monthly gross per capita income (PCI) not exceeding $2,500, monthly gross household income (GHI) not exceeding $10,000 or evidence of family financial difficulties [Priority will be given to students with verified PCI and/or GHI]
  • Students in receipt of a scholarship/study award/grant/bursary (excluding government bursaries and university study awards) may be considered only on a case-by-case basis 

Support will be given once only during course duration.

Tenure and Benefits

  • Up to $500 (cash allowance)
  • Tenable for the approved overseas student programme
