About the Donor
Since its establishment in 2004, the Arisaig Partners Foundation’s philanthropic mission has been to provide educational opportunities for young people in emerging countries and underserved communities. Over the years, the Foundation has also supported initiatives focused on female empowerment and community development.
From 2026, the Foundation intends to place greater emphasis on educational opportunities for young people. We believe that access to education can be life-changing, not only for individuals but also for the communities they go on to serve. With a long-term perspective, education gives young people the opportunity to improve their circumstances and, in turn, create better opportunities for the next generation.
While much of the Foundation’s work has historically been focused across emerging Asia, we also believe in supporting causes closer to home in Singapore. This has now included support for organisations and community initiatives such as APSN and the Lions Club.
Arisaig has had a longstanding relationship with SMU, and we came to know about Scholarships supporting students in need of financial aid through Mr. Steve Tay, who has been a Scholarship donor. We felt that its purpose aligned closely with the Foundation’s renewed focus on education.
Through this gift, we hope to support capable students who may face financial constraints, giving them greater opportunity to benefit from an SMU education and pursue their potential.
