About the Financial Award
Established in 2024, the purpose of purpose of the Stephanie Yeo Scholarship is to motivate outstanding female undergraduates at the Yong Pung How School of Law (YPHSL) of the University, with demonstrated financial needs, to spur them on to greater heights of academic excellence and to accord appropriate recognition to the recipients of the Scholarship for their accomplishments.
Eligibility Criteria
- Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
- Female full-time incoming freshman enrolled at YPHSL
- Good academic achievements (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00)
- Demonstrated financial need throughout the Scholarship’s tenure (not exceeding the gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with the prevailing income level for government-funded bursaries)
Benefits
- $ 12,000 per annum (towards subsidised tuition fees and/ or other study-related expenses).
- Tenable for four years of study
Conditions of Award
- Singaporean students may apply for government bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria
- The Recipient must not hold any other awards of similar nature during the tenure of the Award, except with the prior written approval of the University

About the Donor
SMU alumna Stephanie Yeo graduated from the Yong Pung How School of Law and is currently a Partner in the Restructuring & Insolvency and Special Situations Advisory Practices at WongPartnership, focusing on formal and out-of-court cross-border restructurings.
Recognised as a Rising Star for restructuring and insolvency at the IFLR Rising Stars Awards Asia-Pacific 2022, Stephanie was featured in Global Restructuring Review's 40 under 40 list that highlights the next generation of accomplished cross-border restructuring and insolvency specialists globally. She has also been described as a “generational talent” and a “lawyer who is skilled beyond her years” in publications such as The Legal 500: Asia Pacific and Chambers Asia-Pacific.
During her time in SMU, Stephanie participated in various international moot competitions including the International Law Moot Court Competition “Asia Cup” in Japan and the William C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna.
Stephanie credits her accomplishments to her alma mater and would like to pay it forward by supporting other female law students at SMU. She hopes that the Stephanie Yeo Scholarship will give a bright, deserving individual facing financial hardships access to the well-rounded education that the Yong Pung How School of Law offers.
