About the Financial Award

Established in 2022, the Apurva Kothari Study Award is available to full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University. It aims to assist financially needy undergraduates, to aspire for greater heights of excellence despite adversity and financial hardship.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme
  • Any nationality
  • With demonstrable financial needs (with gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with prevailing guidelines to qualify for government bursaries)

Benefits

  • $8,000 per annum (towards annual subsidised tuition fees)
  • Tenable for one year of study
  • May be in concurrent receipt of a bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.

Application

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the Donor

Apurva is currently a commodities and finance professional who has made Singapore his home since 2012.  As an advocate of lifelong learning, he strongly believes in the value education plays in shaping one’s life and that no one should be denied the opportunity to learn and grow, should one desire to do so.  He also strongly believes in the role youths play in shaping the global future and spends a fair bit of his time mentoring young professionals wanting to make a difference.  That is why in setting up this study award, he hopes that no student facing financial difficulty should be denied the opportunity to educate themselves and create an impact on the world.
