About the Financial Award
Established in 2024, the Bold Book Grant is available to full-time undergraduates from the School of Computing and Information Systems. It aims to encourage bright, full-time undergraduate students enrolled at the University to aspire for academic excellence in spite of adversity and financial hardship.
Eligibility Criteria
- Full-time undergraduates from the School of Computing and Information Systems
- Singapore Citizen
- Active involvement and/or leadership positions in any co-curricular activities (CCAs)
- Have demonstrated evidence of family household income (with gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with prevailing guidelines to qualify for government bursaries)
Benefits
- $2,000 (cash allowance)
- Tenable for one year of study
Conditions of Award
- May be in concurrent receipt of a government bursary, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria
- The Recipient must not hold any other awards of similar nature during the tenure of the Award, except with the prior written approval of the University
Application
Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

The Bold Book Grant is established by Sim Cher Boon (BSc(ISM) 2021 & MSc(Computing 2021) in 2024, for students who are bold in taking challenges and making changes to themselves, and create a positive change and promote progress in others.
