About the Financial Award

The Kwa Geok Choo Scholarship is made possible by the Kwa Geok Choo Law Library Endowment Fund.  Since its establishment in 2011, the scholarship gives recognition to outstanding undergraduate students from the Yong Pung How School of Law.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates from the Yong Pung How School of Law proceeding to year 2, 3 or 4 of study
  • Any nationality
  • Outstanding academic results (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.70)
  • Outstanding leadership qualities
  • Demonstrate a spirit of volunteerism by contributing to the University and/or the community at large
  • Embrace and demonstrate the SMU CIRCLE (Commitment-Integrity-Responsibility-Collegiality-Leadership-Excellence) Values
  • Active involvement in co-curricular activities

Benefits

  • $15,000 per annum (towards subsidised tuition fees and study-related expenses)
  • Each scholarship, depending on the recipient's level of study in the year of award, is tenable for up to three years of academic studies, subject to the recipient’s continued observance of the eligibility criteria and the terms and conditions of award.
  • one-time $10,000 allowance (to support participation in student activities - exchange programme, summer study programme, overseas internship, community service project (local or abroad), study trip, global issues forum and/or study-related special seminars)
