About the Donor

The Lawrence Lee Beng Teck Study Award was established in 2023 by the Lee family in honour of their beloved husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather.

Mr Lee was the Chairman of El & El Group, a property developer and investor with business interests across Singapore, Australia and Malaysia.  He had a humble start in life working on construction sites. Over the decades, his can-do attitude and sincerity towards business partners led him to good opportunities in real estate including shophouses, commercial, residential and industrial properties.

Life was not always smooth sailing, but his resilience allowed him to grind out the tough periods and importantly, build strong relationships in the toughest of times. He was a strong proponent of education despite not having attended university himself.  He also believed in giving opportunities to people who proved themselves hungry to succeed even if their starting point in life was not the most favourable.

This is one of the reasons why his family has set up the Lawrence Lee Beng Teck Study Award to provide financial assistance to worthy students.
