About the Financial Award

The School of Accountancy at Singapore Management University has established the Professor Tan Teck Meng Memorial Fund, in honour of the late Professor Tan Teck Meng, to celebrate his 40 illustrious years in academia.

The Fund will support the Professor Tan Teck Meng Study Award which aims to encourage undergraduates from the School of Accountancy to strive for academic excellence and to gain a holistic education at SMU.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in School of Accountancy
  • Any nationality
  • Good academic results 
  • Preference for undergraduates with demonstrated leadership qualities and are actively involved in community and/or co-curricular activities
  • Special consideration will be given to undergraduates with demonstrated financial needs 

Benefits

  • $5,000 (towards subsidised tuition fees)
  • Tenable for one year of study
  • May be in concurrent receipt of a bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.

Application

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-Administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the Donor

The Study Award is funded by the proceeds from the Professor Tan Teck Meng Memorial Fund.

The late Professor Tan Teck Meng was among the true pioneers of Singapore Management University. He was the University’s first Deputy President and Provost in 1998. Professor Tan also served as Professor of Accounting at SMU’s School of Accountancy, touching the hearts of colleagues and students through his unwavering dedication and commitment. The Professor Tan Teck Meng Memorial Fund has been established in his memory, to always remember him as a most remarkable teacher, associate and dear friend.
