About the Award
Established in 2017, the Associate Professor (Practice) Foo See Liang and Family Prize seeks to motivate exceptional student talents from the School of Accountancy (SOA) at the Singapore Management University and spur them to greater heights of academic excellence. It provides recognition for the top student in the Risk Management and Assurance electives offered by SOA.
The prize will be given out at a University-level event.
Eligibility Criteria
The prize will be given to the top student who has completed the following elective courses offered by SOA and achieved the highest combined GPA:
- ACCT409 Auditing for the Public Sector
- ACCT410 Internal Audit
The prize will only be given if there is a candidate of sufficient merit.

About the Donor
Dr Foo See Liang is an Associate Professor (Practice) at the School of Accountancy, Singapore Management University. He is also co-director of the Centre for Corporate and Investor Responsibility (CCIR), Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics. His practice and research interests are in governance, risk management and assurance.
See Liang has been active in the accounting profession and industry. He is a member of the Corporate Governance Committee, and Auditing and Assurance Standards Committee of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA), member of the Internal Audit Work Group of the Singapore Accountancy Commission, and a member of Singapore Internal Award Excellence Award Committee of Securities Investors Association.
See Liang has served as chair of the Audit Committee and co-chaired the Board of Directors of a company for several years. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (UK) and ISCA.
