About the Financial Award

Established in 2020, the Scholarship is available to full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University.  It is aimed at motivating outstanding undergraduates to achieve academic excellence and to accord appropriate recognition to the recipients of the Scholarship for their accomplishments.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in the Health Economic and Management Second Major at the University
  • Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Good academic results (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00)
  • Have demonstrated leadership and communications skills with record of co-curricular activity and/or community service involvement 
  • Have demonstrable evidence of family financial hardships (with gross monthly per capita income in accordance with prevailing guidelines to qualify for government bursaries)
  • Preference will be given to students who demonstrate a strong interest and desire to pursue a career in the healthcare sector

Benefits

  • $10,000 (towards subsidised tuition fees)
  • Tenable for up to two (2) years of the recipient’s course of studies, subject to the recipient’s continued observance of the eligibility criteria such as maintaining good academic results, demonstrating high standards of personal conduct and remaining active in community service and co-curricular activities. 
  • May be in concurrent receipt of a bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.

About the donor

The Ngee Ann Kongsi was founded in 1845 by Teochew immigrants from China providing welfare services for its members. It was formally incorporated under the Ngee Ann Kongsi (Incorporation) Ordinance in 1933. The foundation is an active advocate in education which funds scholarships and study awards to disadvantaged students as well as promotes cultural and welfare activities. The Kongsi also places a deep emphasis on preserving Chinese heritage in Singapore.
