About the Financial Award

Supported by The Tan Tiong Hwee Memorial Fund contributed by collective donors, the memorial grant is available to Bachelor of Laws undergraduates from the Yong Pung How School of Law (YPHSL) studying full-time at the Singapore Management University.  The grant is aimed at providing financial assistance to Law undergraduates who are in need of financial assistance to participate in overseas activities/programmes such as overseas community service projects, Law Study Missions or any other university-approved overseas student educational programme.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates from the Yong Pung How School of Law
  • Any nationality
  • Monthly household per capita income of no more than $1,900 or evidence of family financial difficulties
  • Students who are in receipt of other scholarships/study awards/bursaries may apply but priority will be given to eligible students who are not in receipt of such awards or assistance.

Tenure and Benefits

  • $1,000 (cash allowance)
  • Tenable for the approved overseas student programme

Application 

Subject to availability of grants, applications will be invited for the following student programmes/activities:

  • Student Exchanges - in April (for students proceeding for exchanges in Fall/Term 1) and in October (for students proceeding for exchanges in Spring/Term 2)
  • Community Service Projects - in September (for Winter CSPs) and in February (Summer CSPs)
  • Study Missions - September for Term 1 and February for Term 2
