How has your SMU scholarship benefitted you so far?
The Lee Kong Chian Scholarship not only covered my tuition fees in full, but was also a gateway to invaluable community service and career development opportunities. As a Lee Kong Chian Scholar, I participated in several networking events, where I met seniors who worked in jobs that I was interested in. These seniors shared their internship experiences and industry insights with me, which have helped me to discover an interest in Corporate Banking.
With SMU, I have travelled to…
During my Year 1 summer, I had the privilege of participating in Project Grasya II, an overseas community service project (OCSP). As part of this project, I travelled to Manila, Philippines to teach underprivileged high school students Mathematics, English and Financial Literacy, help them discover their passions and goals, instil important values in the students and impart skills such as discipline and teamwork to them.
How has SMU’s city location enriched your university experience?
SMU’s city location means easy access to good food and hangout spots – I frequently meet friends in places like CHIJMES, Raffles City, Plaza Singapura, Cathay and the Rochor Beancurd stall. The proximity of SMU to the CBD has allowed me to easily meet up and network with working professionals, who are more than willing to share about their working experience and offer me career advice over lunch or dinner.
A fun fact about SMU.
We have 2 bars (Bricklane and Canteen Bistro)!
