About the Financial Award
Funded by a generous grant from Victor and William Fung Foundation, the Fung Scholarships are available for outstanding full-time local undergraduates at the Singapore Management University proceeding for exchange in overseas universities, as well as outstanding students from universities in China on exchange to SMU. The objective of the scholarships is to enrich the scholars' understanding in their fields of study and to expose them to different cultures and environments.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Outbound (SMU Students)
- Full-time undergraduate students in any year and field of study
- Should preferably be Singapore Citizens
- Possess outstanding academic results
- Demonstrate leadership qualities
- An active record of CCA participation
- A record of community service involvement
- Must have applied/or proceeding for exchange in an overseas university which has an exchange agreement with SMU.
- Must be prepared, on return from overseas exchange, to write a 400-word report on the benefits of the exchange experience.
Inbound (Incoming Exchange Students)
- Full-time undergraduate students from partner universities in China
- Chinese Nationals
Benefits
- Recipients will be referred to as the Fung Scholars
- Fung Scholars will receive a cash sum of $5,000 to fund exchange-related expenses
- The scholarship funds will be disbursed to scholars on confirmation of the university exchange
Application
Applications will be invited through Centre for Global Education and Opportunities' call for exchange applications:
- February to March (Fall exchange application)
- July to August (Spring exchange application)

About the Donor
The Fung Scholarship is an exchange scholarship set up by the Victor and William Fung Foundation Limited, a Hong Kong-registered charity, to support leadership development principally through sharing of experiences and ideas. Funded by its Founders, Dr Victor K Fung and Dr William K Fung, the scholarships provide a platform for cultural exchange for SMU undergraduates and mainland Chinese undergraduates.
Fung Scholars can access the Fung Scholars Portal to interact with scholars from other countries and universities.
