Lee Sit Ngian Study Award

About the Financial Award

Established in 2022, the Lee Sit Ngian Study Award is available to full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University.  It aims to encourage bright undergraduates to aspire for academic excellence in spite of adversity and financial hardship.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme
  • Singapore Citizens 
  • With demonstrated financial needs (with gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with prevailing guidelines to qualify for government bursaries)

Benefits

  • $8,000 per annum (towards subsidised tuition fees)
  • Tenable for one year of study

Conditions of Award

  • May be in concurrent receipt of a government bursary, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria
  • The Recipient must not hold any other awards of similar nature during the tenure of the Award, except with the prior written approval of the University

Application

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the Donor

The Study Award was established in 2022 in memory of the late Mr Lee Sit Ngian by his sons and daughter-in-law, Mr Lee Yoong Waay, Mrs Lee Doan Nguyen Thi Thanh Loan, and Mr Lee Yoong Keok. Yoong Waay graduated with a degree from Monash University, while Thanh Loan graduated from Ho Chi Minh University of Technology. Yoong Keok obtained a PhD from MIT. They are grateful for the financial assistance that paved the way for their education, which their parents greatly valued. They wish students every success and hope that the award inspires them to contribute back to the community and society in the future.
