SMU Partial Conference Funding

The SMU Partial Conference Funding is a financial assistance scheme by the University, establish with the aim to encourage undergraduate students to write and present research papers at academic conferences. The writing of research papers also encourages students to develop their research capabilities and present original ideas for the advancement of knowledge.  Students participating in international, regional or local conferences may apply for partial conference funding.

Funding is subject to:

• a maximum of $1,000 per trip for conferences outside South East Asia.
• a maximum of $500 per trip for conferences in South East Asia.

It is intended to partially cover costs such as registration fees, accommodation, and flights. The amount of funding will be determined by factors such as the reputation of the conference, the quality of the paper accepted for presentation at the conference, and the applicant's role at the conference. Applicants must demonstrate that they are capable of representing the student body or their school.

• Full-time undergraduate students of of any nationality and course of study
• Support will be given up to 2 times during the students' course of studies

• No repayment is required.
• However, repayment is required in full if student withdraws from the intended conference programme/activity.
