About the Financial Award
Established in 2026, the Sohmen-Pao Asia Gateway Immersion Grant supports full-time undergraduates at the University to embark on a short-term study programme (SSP), in order to allow them to gain exposure specifically in Asian countries through activities such as university lectures, corporate visits, and cultural immersion.
Eligibility Criteria
- Full-time undergraduates
- Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
- Participating in a credit-bearing SSP of at least two weeks with SMU partner universities in Asia
Tenure and Benefits
- Cash: S$1,500 (Ningbo) or S$1,000 (All other destinations)
- Cover SSP-related expenses such as air tickets, accommodation, living expenses, visa, insurance, health check-ups/vaccines, and/or study related expenses, as determined by the University
Conditions of Award
- The Recipient must not hold any other awards of similar nature during the tenure of the Award, except with the prior written approval of the University

The Sohmen-Pao Foundation was established in Singapore by the Sohmen-Pao family with a mission to invest in talent for a better society.
