Yu Xin Community Project Grant

About the Financial Award

Established by SMU alumnus Mr Gao Lu, the Yu Xin Community Project Grant aims to inspire students to achieve greater heights of excellence through local community service projects facilitated by the Centre for Social Responsibility (C4SR).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Local community service projects approved by C4SR
  • Projects must preferably have demonstrated excellence or made significant community service contributions in the following areas in Singapore: 
    (i) Elderly, or 
    (ii) Persons with disabilities

Tenure and Benefits

Value: S$3,000 will be awarded to one project annually

Conditions of Award

  • The Grant will be awarded at the project team level, with recommendation from C4SR.

About the Donor

Established in 2012 by SMU alumnus Mr Gao Lu, the Yu Xin Community Leadership Award and Project Grant and the Shu Li Sports Excellence Award respectively motivate exceptional student talents at the University in community service and in sports. These awards and project grant are to spur students to greater heights of excellence, as well as provide recognition to outstanding students in both community leadership and sports.

A Chartered Financial Analyst, Mr Gao Lu graduated from the University in 2007 and is a senior executive in the finance industry. These awards and project grant are to honour his parents Mr Gao Shu Li and Madam Ding Yuxin. The senior Mr Gao was a surgeon in Navy 401 Hospital, China and Mrs Gao was a teacher at Qingdao Jiayuguan Primary School, China.
