About the Financial Award

Established in 2024, the Alfred C. Piper Study Award is available to full-time Singaporean undergraduates at the Singapore Management University.  It aims to encourage undergraduates to aspire for academic excellence despite adversity and financial hardship.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time first year undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme
  • Singapore Citizens 
  • With demonstrated evidence of family financial hardships (with gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with prevailing guidelines to qualify for government bursaries)

Benefits

  • $8,500 per year (towards subsidised tuition fee)
  • Tenable for 4 year of study
  • May be in concurrent receipt of a government bursary, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria

Application

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the Donor

The Alfred C. Piper Study Award is established by Mr Han Jong Kwang in honour of his maternal grandfather, Mr Alfred Charles Piper. Mr Han hopes that this Study Award will ease the financial burden of students who need financial aid and motivate them to achieve academic excellence.
