About the Financial Award

Established in 2022, the CK Than Study Award is available to full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University. It aims to encourage financially needy students to focus on their academic studies during their course of study at the University, by providing financial support to such students.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • With demonstrable financial needs (with gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with prevailing guidelines to qualify for government bursaries)

Benefits

  • $8,000 per annum (towards annual subsidised tuition fees)
  • Tenable for one year of study
  • May be in concurrent receipt of a bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.

Learning and Development Opportunities

The recipients may be offered an internship opportunities by the Donor under mutually agreed terms.

Application

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the Donor

CK Than is the Founder, Chairman & Group Chief Executive Officer of Legend Group with more than 20 years of collective experience in logistics industry.  With his strong leadership and broad expertise, CK has been the key driver to the Group’s development and growth in the Asia Pacific region.

Coming from a humble background and with limited chance to complete his studies, CK believes that access to education is a right and not a privilege.  Through the Study Awards, CK hopes to extend support and opportunities to those needy students to complete their degree and contribute to a more inclusive society and better future of Singapore.
