About the Financial Award

Established in 2024, the Hope Study Award is available to full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University.  It aims to encourage bright undergraduates to aspire for academic excellence in spite of adversity and financial hardship.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time first year undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme
  • Any nationality
  • With demonstrated evidence of family financial hardships (with gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with prevailing guidelines to qualify for government bursaries)

Benefits

  • $12,000 per year (towards subsidised tuition fee and study-related expenses)
  • Tenable for one year of study
  • May be in concurrent receipt of a bursary (Singaporeans only) for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.

Application

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the Donor

The Hope Study Award is established by SMU alumna Diane Poon (BAcc 2011). By providing financial support and mentorship, Diane seeks to enable current students to access all opportunities offered by SMU’s curriculum, build resilience to overcome hardships, and gain confidence to strive for a better future.
