About the Financial Award

Established in 2022, the Japheth Chong Book Grant is available to full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University.  It is aimed at providing assistance to financially needy undergraduates at the University, to aspire for greater heights of excellence in spite of adversity and financial hardship. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme
  • Any nationality
  • Experienced financial hardships in the family (with gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with prevailing guidelines to qualify for government bursaries)

Benefits

  • $2,000 (cash allowance)
  • Tenable for one year of study
  • May be in concurrent receipt of a bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.

Application 

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the Donor

The Japheth Chong Book Grant is established by SMU alumnus, Mr Japheth Chong (BBM, 2010).  With a philosophy of supporting the educational pursuits of students from financially challenged backgrounds, he established the book grant, enabling deserving students to be supported in their study endeavors at SMU.
