About the Financial Award

Established in 2023, the Jonathon Lee Study Award is available to full-time undergraduates from Lee Kong Chian School of Business, School of Information Systems & Computing and Yong Pung How School of Law at the Singapore Management University.  It aims to encourage bright, full-time undergraduate students enrolled at the University to aspire for academic excellence in spite of adversity and financial hardship.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time first year undergraduates enrolled in Lee Kong Chian School of Business, School of Information Systems & Computing and Yong Pung How School of Law
  • Any nationality
  • With demonstrated evidence of family financial hardships (with gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with prevailing guidelines to qualify for government bursaries)

Benefits

  • $12,000 per year (towards subsidised tuition fee and study-related expenses)
  • Tenable for up to four years of study, subject to the recipient’s continued observance of the eligibility criteria and the terms and conditions of award.
  • May be in concurrent receipt of a bursary (Singaporeans only) for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.

Application

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the Donor

The Jonathon Lee Study Award, a testament to Mr Lee’s commitment to fostering educational inclusivity, was established in 2023 to provide essential support to SMU undergraduates facing financial hardships. Mr Lee, a distinguished individual who previously served as the Executive Director of Exclusive Networks- an IT services and consulting firm specialising in cybersecurity and digital infrastructure, has recently transitioned from his corporate role to focus on his private investments. Grounded in a profound belief in the transformative power of holistic education, Mr Lee has chosen to extend his philanthropic endeavours by reaffirming his support for SMU students through the Study Award.
