About the Financial Award

Established in 2017, the Mutiara Ilmu Grant is available to full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University.  It aims to motivate undergraduates from needy financial backgrounds to achieve greater heights of academic and practical excellence.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme
  • Singapore Citizens
  • With demonstrated financial needs (with gross monthly household income not exceeding the prevailing income tiers to qualify for government bursaries)

Tenure and Benefits

  • $1,333 per annum (towards subsidised tuition fees)
  • Tenable for one year of study

Conditions of Award

  • May be in concurrent receipt of a government bursary, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria
  • The Recipient must not hold any other awards of similar nature during the tenure of the Award, except with the prior written approval of the University

Application

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-Administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the Donor

Established in 2017 by an anonymous donor, this financial grant seeks to assist financially needy students. The donor hopes this will ease the financial burden of the recipients and wish them smoother journey at SMU. In turn, it is hoped that recipients will help others in future upon achieving success in their lives.
