About the Financial Award

Established in 2019, the Octava Foundation Study Award aims to motivate and inspire as well as provide financial assistance to full-time undergraduate students at the Singapore Management University.   The study award was an enhanced gift from its earlier establishment of Octava Foundation Bursary in 2017.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time second year Singaporean undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme 
  • With demonstrated financial needs (not exceeding the gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with the prevailing income level for Higher Education Community Bursary Tier 2)
  • Preference for students with demonstrated good leadership skills, active involvement in co-curricular activity and community service commitment

Benefits

  • Each study award is valued at $6,000 and tenable for up to 3 years of study (subject to continued observance of the eligibility criteria and the terms and conditions of award).
  • The study award will go towards funding the recipients' annual tuition fees.
  • The recipients may be in concurrent receipt of another bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.

Application Process

Selection will be on the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the donor

The Octava Foundation Study Award is made possible by Octava Foundation, upholding a mission which is focused on supporting less fortunate children and youth in Singapore to break the cycle of disadvantage by strengthening home, school and societal support. In targeting lower income children and youth who have success within their reach but need to overcome some significant barriers in achieving their life goals, one of our pillars of work involves providing bursaries, scholarships and skill development support for this group.
