About the Financial Award
Established in 2017, the objective of the Scholarship is to motivate outstanding full-time undergraduates from Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Malaysia and other developing countries in Southeast Asia at the Singapore Management University, to achieve academic excellence and to accord recognition to the recipients for their accomplishments.
Eligibility Criteria
Nationals from Malaysia:
Nationals from Sri Lanka, Myanmar and other developing countries in Southeast Asia (order or priority for consideration):
- Be applying for admission to a full-time undergraduate degree programme at SMU
- Possess good academic achievements
- Demonstrate high standards of personal conduct
- Active in community service and co-curricular activities
- With demonstrated financial needs (with gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with prevailing guidelines to qualify for government bursaries)
Benefits
- (Sri Lanka, Myanmar and other developing countries in Southeast Asia) $25,000 per annum (towards school fees and/ or study-related expenses)
- (Malaysian nationals) $25,000 per annum (towards school fees and/ or study-related expenses)
- Tenable for up to 4 years of academic studies, subject to continued observance of the eligibility criteria and the terms and conditions of award

Special consideration is given to applicants with financial needs. After you have submitted your admission application. You are required to submit a separate bursary application form via the Applicant’s Self Service from 1 January 1 to 31 May

About the Donor
Mr Ean Kuok was a founding member of SMU's Board of Trustees from 2000 to 2013. During this time, he was instrumental in supporting and providing guidance towards the University's educational trajectory.
He believes strongly that learning is a lifelong journey and that every individual should "pursue each opportunity with vigour, embrace every experience graciously, give wholeheartedly and live a life fulfilled". His vision of developing the next generation of youth leaders who have the resilience and tenacity to lead, whilst being mindful of the value that shape those decisions and actions has led to his support towards the SMU Pathfinders Programme as well as the SMU International Scholarships.
Mr Kuok is the Chairman of Kuok (Singapore) Limited and Vice Chairman of Kerry Group Limited and Kuok Brothers Sdn Berhad. He is also a Director of Kerry Holdings Limited and a Non-Executive Director of Wilmer International Limited. He holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Nottingham University.
