About the Financial Award

Established in 2015, the SMU MWM Study Award aims to support financially needy students enrolled in any degree programme and the Master of Science in Wealth Management programme at the Singapore Management University. 

For undergraduates, the award will enable needy students to take advantage of opportunities that a SMU holistic education offers.

For MWM postgraduates going through challenging times financially, the award will help mitigate financial worries and assist with related study expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

For undergraduate students:

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme
  • Preference for students with active participation in clubs, societies, projects that are related to wealth management in line with the core programme objectives of MWM
  • Demonstrated evidence of family financial hardships (gross monthly household income not exceeding the prevailing limit to qualify for government bursaries)

For postgraduate students:

Selection of eligible postgraduate candidates will be managed by the MWM Programme Director/Manager during the admissions process.

Benefits

For the undergraduate recipient:

  • $5,000 per annum (towards subsidised tuition fees)
  • Tenable for one year of study
  • May be in concurrent receipt of a bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.

For the postgraduate recipient:

  • $3,000 per annum (towards subsidised tuition fees)
  • Tenable for one year of study
  • The recipient will be encouraged to pledge back the gift when financially capable of doing so to fund future awards for needy students.

Application

For the undergraduate recipient:

  • Selection will be on the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.
  • Interview is required of shortlisted applicants

For the postgraduate recipient:

Selection will be administrated by the MWM Programme Office
