About the donor

The SMU Warriors Fund is set up by a group of retired Singapore Armed Forces servicemen who studied in SMU under the SMU Warriors Scholarship (SWS).

In 2014, then Chief of Defence Force, Lieutenant-General (LG) Ng Chee Meng signed a Memorandum of Agreement on the SWS with SMU President Professor Arnoud De Meyer.  The bond-free scholarship recongised retiring Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) servicemen's contributions to Singapore and to help them in their transition as they embark on their second careers.

In appreciation of the opportunities SMU has provided through the SWS, the SWS Alumni established the SMU Warriors Fund as a way of paying it forward.  The SMU Warriors Bursary, supported by the Fund, seeks to recognise and support financially-challenged National Service(NS)men who have completed their NS, for their commitment and sacrifice to NS, for they studies in SMU.  In addition to the financial support, the group also wishes to contribute in mentoring and coaching the younger graduates and alumni at SMU.
