About the Financial Award

Established in 2023 in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the School of Social Sciences (SOSS) at the Singapore Management University, the SOSS Study Award is available to full-time undergraduates from SOSS.  It aims to motivate financially needy undergraduates to achieve academic excellence and foster passion for the social sciences.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates from the School of Social Sciences
  • Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents
  • With demonstrated evidence of family financial hardships (with gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with prevailing guidelines to qualify for government bursaries)

Benefits

  • $13,733 per annum (towards subsidised tuition fee)
  • Tenable for one year of study

Conditions of Award

  • May be in concurrent receipt of a government bursary, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria
  • The Recipient must not hold any other awards of similar nature during the tenure of the Award, except with the prior written approval of the University

Application

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.
