About the Donor

The Alvin Poh Endowed Scholarship is supported by Alvin Poh (BSc (IS), 2010), a proud SMU alumnus who completed the dual-degree programme at SMU School of Information Systems and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Alvin co-founded Vodien Internet Solutions Pte Ltd, a leading cloud hosting provider in Singapore with over 35,000 companies and 210,000 users’ websites and emails depend on Vodien’s servers and infrastructure.

Education is a strong focus of Alvin Poh’s philanthropy, because he believes that education is the foundation upon which sustainable, wide-spread social impact can be supported. SMU has been a place of great personal growth for Alvin, and gave him the ability to develop as a person.  Through this scholarship, Alvin hopes to enable more students to experience the opportunities that SMU can provide, and to inspire philanthropy and encourage more social responsibility.
