About the Award

The Excellence Award in Actuarial Science Major, supported by contributions from the faculty members of School of Economics (SOE) at the Singapore Management University, is given annually to recognise outstanding graduating students from any degree programme with declared Second Major in Actuarial Science.  The award is aimed at motivating SMU students to aspire for greater heights of excellence.

Eligibility Criteria

The award will be given annually to the student who best meets the following eligibility criteria:

  • Graduating students from any degree programme with declared Second Major in Actuarial Science
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.60
  • Passed at least two of the following Society of Actuaries (SOA) examinations:
    • Probability (P)
    • Financial Mathematics (FM)
    • Model, Financial Economics (MFE)
    • Model, Life Contingencies (MLC)
    • Construction of models (C)
  • Preference for students with active involvement in CCA or activities related to the Actuarial Science Major
  • Preference for students with active leadership roles in the student community

The award will only be given if there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
