Why did you choose to come to SMU?
During my final year of high school, I knew I wanted to pursue a business degree in either Singapore or Hong Kong, as both are prominent financial hubs in Asia. While I received offers from universities in Hong Kong, I ultimately chose Singapore Management University. My decision was influenced not only by Singapore’s stability and security but also by SMU’s strong focus on business education and its distinctive pedagogy.
Please share two key highlights of your academic experience in SMU.
a. I must say that I enjoy all the business core and finance courses I have taken so far in SMU. I like that the cases shown/teste in class are very practical and similar to real-life cases, as to prepare us for the working world. On top of that, I felt that the professors for these finance courses are deeply passionate in teaching and knowledgeable in their field. As a super naturally curious person, I love to ask "why" on almost everything; and I am so grateful that these professors are willing to explain to me the reason behind all my questions.
b. A group project that is very memorable would be my STAT-X project under Rosie Ching. It was a very tiring experience, but rewarding. As a starter, I will say that this statistics class isn't just any stats class. For this project called "Save Me", we had to work closely with Samaritans of Singapore to better understand Singaporeans' understanding and views on suicide in the country. My group mates and I, we had to approach 300+ people to fill in our survey which would later be used to create a 100 page report.
