About the Financial Award

Established in 2015, the MERCU-SMU Excellence Scholarship is available to full-time Malay Singaporean undergraduates at the Singapore Management University.  The scholarship is aimed at motivating undergraduates to achieve greater heights of excellence.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time Malay Singaporean undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme and in their second to fourth year of studies
  • Singapore Citizen
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Passion for “paying it forward”
  • Good academic results (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00)
  • Special consideration to be given to students with evidence of financial need

Benefits

  • $12,000 per annum (towards subsidised tuition fees)
  • Tenable for one year of study

Conditions of Award

  • May be in concurrent receipt of a government bursary, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria
  • The Recipient must not hold any other awards of similar nature during the tenure of the Award, except with the prior written approval of the University

About the Donor

MERCU Learning Point is a private education organisation that offers a comprehensive range of programmes and services for children aged 18 months to 12 years. Set up in 1999, MERCU has 18 centres comprising one kindergarten, five childcare centres and 12 student care centres. MERCU serves close to 2,000 children monthly both in private sectors and in government schools.
