About The Scholarship
Established in 2007, the Ng Kai Wa Scholarship is aimed at encouraging full-time needy undergraduates at the School of Computing and Information Systems to achieve academic excellence in their studies and at providing them with financial support towards their costs of education.
Eligibility Criteria
- Full-time undergraduates of any nationality enrolled in degree programmes at the School of Computing and Information Systems
- Demonstrate a balanced profile with good academic achievements and an interest in non-academic activities
- With demonstrated financial need
Benefits
Freshman
- Tenable for up to 4 years of the recipient’s academic studies, subject to achieving continued good academic results and complying with other terms and conditions of award.
- Valued at $7,500 per annum
- The scholarship will be used to pay for the recipient’s school fees.
- The recipient may apply for bursary for cash allowance.
Current Student
- Tenable for one year
- Valued between $5,000 and $7,500 (depending on the recipient’s financial circumstances).
- The scholarship will be used to pay for the recipient's school fees.
- The recipient may apply for bursary for cash allowance.

Prospective Students
If you would like to be considered for this scholarship, please indicate your interest in the Scholarship section of the online application form for admission. There is no separate scholarship application form.
Special consideration for this scholarship will be given to applicants with demonstrated financial needs. Applicants must also submit a separate financial aid application. This can be done via Applicant’s Self Service, after submitting the online application for admission. Prospective applicants may submit their financial aid application when it opens for its annual exercise from 1 January to 31 May.

About The Donor
The Ng Kai Wa Scholarship, donated by Mr Ng Kai Wa, aims to inspire Information Systems students in SMU to pursue academic excellence. Mr Ng is the Chairman, CEO & Co-Founder of InnoMedia Pte Ltd (Singapore). The School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS) has enjoyed a fruitful partnership with him - he served in the inaugural Advisory Board of the School, and continues to do so today. He is also a member of the SMU Enterprise Board.
