About the Award
Established in 2012, the Shu Li Sports Excellence Award Scheme aims to motivate the exceptional student talents at the Singapore Management University in sports and to spur them to greater heights of excellence, as well as provide recognition to outstanding students in sports.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants (individuals/teams) must have demonstrated sports achievement in any of the following areas:
- Achievement in competition at the national or international level
- Initiated sports achievements which led to student participation at campus-wide events
- Contributed to the growing sports participations at SMU
The awards will only be given if there are candidates/teams of sufficient merit.

- Shu Li Sports Excellence Award (Best Sports Team of the Year - Team Events) – Certificate and $1,000 Cash Prize
- Shu Li Sports Excellence Award (Best Sports Team of the Year - Team Sports) – Certificate and $1,000 Cash Prize
- Shu Li Sports Excellence Award (Best Sportsman of the Year) – Certificate and $500 Cash Prize
- Shu Li Sports Excellence Award (Best Sportswoman of the Year) – Certificate and $500 Cash Prize

About the Donor
Supported by SMU Alumnus Mr Gao Lu (Bachelor of Business Management, 2007), the Yu Xin Community Leadership and Shu Li Sports Excellence Awards were established in 2012 in honour of his parents. Gao Lu is a proud recipient of the Li Ka Shing Endowed Scholarship during his studies at SMU. Upon graduation, he had worked in Hong Kong and was the President of the SMU Alumni Hong Kong Chapter from 2011 to 2015. He is now working in Singapore.
