About the donor

The endowed scholarship was created by a group of SMU alumni who first met each other while working at GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, and the group wanted to find a way to support deserving students through collective giving. Inspired by the life experiences of and impact on the initial recipients, the group expanded the scholarship in 2024 to increase the number of annual scholarships and the award quantum to broaden its effect.

In addition to providing financial support, the scholarship looks to extend mentorship opportunities to the recipients from the alumni donors, who today occupy various roles and functions in the investment management and financial services industries, including at GIC and beyond
