About the Financial Award

 Established in 2018, The SMU Ambassadorial Corps Study Mission Grant aims to provide financial support to financially challenged students in their expenses for the study missions offered by the University.  The Grant aims to provide recognition to students who exhibit a passion to promote the University’s name, brand and culture.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme
  • With demonstrable financial needs [Priority will be given to students with verified per capita income (PCI) and/or Gross Household Income (GHI)]
  • Not in receipt of any scholarship, excluding bursaries and other financial assistance schemes supported by SMU and/or other organisations.
  • Priority for undergraduates with demonstrated leadership qualities or vibrant student life experience, exhibited passion for promoting the University’s name and contributing to the University.
  • Members of the SMU Ambassadorial Corps are not eligible to apply.

Tenure and Benefits

  • $2,000 (cash allowance)
  • Tenable for the approved overseas student programme

Conditions of Award

  • The Recipient must submit a bursary application to validate their household income
  • The Recipient must not hold any other awards of similar nature during the tenure of the Award, except with the prior written approval of the University

Repayment

  • No repayment is required.
  • A student who withdraws from the study mission module is required to repay the grant.
