About the Award
Established in 2012, the Yu Xin Community Leadership Award aims to motivate the exceptional student talents at the Singapore Management University in community service and to spur them to greater heights of excellence, as well as provide recognition to outstanding students in community leadership.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrated excellence or made significant community service contribution in the following areas in Singapore:
- Elderly
- Persons with Disabilities
- Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial needs in the event there are more than two candidates contending for the Award.
The awards will only be given if there are candidates of sufficient merit.

Certificate and $1,500 Cash Prize
Application
- Applications will be invited in Term 2 annually.
- Interested applicants must provide documentary evidence in support of fulfilment of eligibility criteria.

About the Donor
Supported by SMU Alumnus Mr Gao Lu (Bachelor of Business Management, 2007), the Yu Xin Community Leadership and Shu Li Sports Excellence Awards were established in 2012 in honour of his parents. Gao Lu is a proud recipient of the Li Ka Shing Endowed Scholarship during his studies at SMU. Upon graduation, he had worked in Hong Kong and was the President of the SMU Alumni Hong Kong Chapter from 2011 to 2015. He is now working in Singapore.
