"SMU close-knit culture and practical curriculum has not only allowed me to forge new friendships but also become a more effective communicator overtime."

Why did you choose your field of study / degree programme?

I chose Software Engineering because I’ve always had a strong interest in computers since young. While I initially had some doubts about turning my passion into a career, the 52-week apprenticeship offered in this programme ultimately convinced me. I believe that while the school curriculum builds our technical foundation, it’s the hands-on industry experience that truly shapes our growth and helps us understand how our skills apply in real-world contexts.

What is your favourite hangout spot/place to chill after a long day of classes?

I actually enjoy running around Marina Bay as my “running track” to unwind after a long day of class with my friends.

What advice would you give to prospective students who are thinking of applying to SMU?

You may be uncertain about what you may want to do in the future, but don’t be afraid to take the leap of faith to explore and try out new things when an opportunity arises.
