“SMU’s interactive pedagogy has exposed to me so many different ideas and opinions of people, especially in the last semester when the exchange students were in some of my classes. It was nice to hear about their experiences and how things work in their countries. I love all the fresh takes and new ideas because it challenges me to relook at how I view things and to see how my own ideas, thoughts and opinions change after considering all this new material and content that I have learnt.”

The highlight of your student life at SMU so far.

Without a doubt, SMU Floorball’s victory in SUNIG (Singapore University Games). Especially with the COVID situation, we had to adapt to the many different government regulations which affected how we could train and even during the competition period itself, there was the potential that some of us could be down with COVID and unable to play certain matches. Nevertheless, we pulled through and managed to emerge as Champions which was a nice return to the university sports scene especially after COVID halted university competitions for a substantial period of time.

How has SMU’s city location enriched your university experience?

Because of SMU’s city location, there are no shortage of places which one can go to for pretty much anything. With the many museums, parks, or the town stretch to walk along, there is bound to be something for you to do if you are tired of studying or just need a break.

What is the one thing you wish more people knew about SMU?

Many people often use the fact that we don’t have a hall life or hall culture as a reason to say we lack vibrancy or student life but at the end of the day we still have a large variety of CCAs and activities which you can choose to commit to make your student life fun and fulfilling.

A fun fact about SMU:

SMU is within walking distance to quite several MRT lines – North-South, East-West, North-East, Circle, Downtown, talk about being accessible!
