"SMU has helped me become more independent, confident, and open to challenges. It’s a place that pushes you to grow not just as a student, but as a future professional — through meaningful experiences, supportive mentors, and a vibrant, driven community."

Why did you choose to come to SMU?

I chose SMU because it stood out for its interactive pedagogy, flexibility in curriculum, and strong industry linkages. The seminar-style classes and small cohort sizes allow for deeper engagement and meaningful relationships with professors and peers. I was also drawn to SMU’s emphasis on holistic development — through global exposure, community service, internships, and leadership opportunities — which aligned with my goal of becoming a well-rounded professional.

Name your favourite class/mod at SMU so far, and why:

Ethics and Social Responsibility for Accounting under Prof Clarence Goh was an eye-opener. We even had an off-campus visit to Sentosa to learn about their sustainability initiatives. The module taught us to evaluate ethical dilemmas through different lenses and sparked meaningful debates. It was fulfilling to reflect on how people’s values shape the way they view ethical issues and solutions.

How has the SMU scholarship benefitted you, not just monetarily but also in terms of your personal development?

The scholarship has given me the confidence to pursue opportunities I may not have otherwise considered — from internships to leadership roles. It also connected me with a community of like-minded peers who are driven and inspiring. More than just financial aid, it’s a platform that supports my growth in every dimension — academic, professional, and personal.
