Ethical Strategy & Corporate Governance
Hwa Chong Institution
Why did you choose to come to SMU?
I chose SMU due to its stellar reputation in the corporate world and seminar style learning. Smaller class sizes with a graded weightage of class participation seemed like a fun and interactive way to learn and debate with peers, under the guidance of a professor. It has been fun.
How has SMU’s city location enriched your university experience?
Amazing access to food and a localised central location means meeting with friends is incredibly easy. Nothing beats a nearby Chuan-chuan meal after a hard day of student leadership.
What is your career aspiration and how have SMU’s career prep programmes helped you in making progress towards your goals?
I aspire to leave a strong impact in reimagining the roles of social and governance practices in corporate settings, likely through asset management, corporate governance roles or leadership roles inspiring work culture in companies. SMU has allowed for a huge amount of networking and support that allows me to renegotiate ideas of what impact looks like regarding sustainability directives and such.
Please share a highlight of your student life in SMU.
SMU Sports Union leadership experience, and its corresponding camps and activities, was an insanely fun experience, and helped me to grow very much as a leader, friend and person. Through trials and tribulations, many lifelong friendships were forged. And hopefully the participants enjoyed themselves as well.
