Why did you choose to come to SMU?
I chose SMU for its convenient location and seminar-style classes. The commute is really convenient, with four MRT lines and numerous bus stops nearby. I also felt the interactive class format would help me become more confident in speaking and presenting my ideas, helping me develop soft skills such as communication and presentation that I believe are invaluable both for my career and life in general.
What is your 2nd major and why did you choose this particular 2nd major?
My second degree is the Bachelor of Social Sciences (PPS), majoring in Political Science. I chose Social Sciences because I was keen to understand the social and behavioural dimensions of organisations and governments, and to view the world through different lenses that broaden my perspective. PPS also gave me the opportunity to take introductory courses in psychology and sociology, offering a helpful foundation in those fields.
What advice would you give to prospective students (especially your juniors from high school) who are thinking of applying to SMU?
Please do thorough research beforehand and identify what suits you before committing to SMU, particularly with regard to teaching styles. As for choosing a course, even if you're unsure of your intended major, SMU allows you to declare a second major from any field, and there is no need to rush your decision! So take the time to explore your options.
