"SMU has given me a wholistic education and many opportunities for me to further my personal growth and career development. More importantly, SMU has left me with many lifelong friends and memories which I will never forget!"

Why did you choose to come to SMU?

When I was researching which university to choose after IB, I focused on several key factors. Firstly, I looked for a university with not only a strong academic reputation but also an industry focused approach to teaching and SMU stood out in this regard. Its curriculum and emphasis on real world experiences appealed to me. Additionally, I considered the opportunities for personal and professional growth outside the classroom. SMU's vibrant campus life, co-curricular activities, and support for internship opportunities were highly attractive to me. Looking to pursue a career in the financial industry, I also explored the network and alumni connections that SMU offered, recognizing the potential long-term benefits for my career development.

Name your favourite class/mod at SMU, and why?

Taxation! It was really interesting to see how the tax system works in Singapore and it has much real world application in the future. Furthermore, I took the class with a few friends which made the class very enjoyable!

Please share about any community service projects/trips that you have taken part in in SMU, and why those are meaningful to you.

One of the community service projects I took part in at SMU was Project Graysa, an OCSP  Philippines (but was zoom in my year). The project aimed to provide educational support and uplift the lives of underprivileged children in rural areas.
During Project Graysa, we organized various activities and lessons for the children, focusing on subjects such as English, Math, and Science. We also conducted workshops to promote values such as teamwork, resilience, and creativity. Additionally, we engaged in infrastructure improvement projects, refurbishing classrooms and providing necessary resources for the school.

This project holds great meaning to me because it allowed me to make a direct and positive impact on the lives of children who face educational challenges and limited resources. Seeing their enthusiasm to learn and witnessing their growth throughout the project was truly inspiring. It highlighted the transformative power of education and the importance of equal access to quality learning opportunities.
