Jajoo Udaan SMU-X Exposure Grant

Established in 2026, the Jajoo Udaan SMU-X Exposure Grant is to motivate undergraduates at the University, with demonstrated financial needs, and support their learning opportunities through the SMU-X Overseas programmes and study trips. 

• Full-time undergraduate female students enrolled in any degree programme
• Any nationality
• Students embarking on SMU-X Overseas programmes
• Preference will be given to students who have not embarked on any overseas student programmes
• Demonstrated evidence of financial needs (does not exceed the gross monthly household per capita income in accordance with the prevailing income level for government-funded bursaries) [Priority will be given to students with verified per capita income (PCI) and/or Gross Household Income (GHI)]

• S$1,000 to support towards a recipient’s SMU-X Overseas programme expenses including air tickets, accommodation, living expenses, visa, insurance, health check-ups / vaccines, and/or study related expenses, as determined by the University

• The Recipient must submit a bursary application to validate their household income
• The Recipient must not hold any other awards of similar nature during the tenure of the Award, except with the prior written approval of the University

• Applications will be invited through email announcements, generally:
  -  between July and August (for Term 1)
  -  between December and January (for Term 2)
• Applications are to be submitted via OASIS > All Apps - Financial Aid Application

The Jajoo Udaan SMU-X Overseas Exposure Grant supports young women atSing apore Management University in pursuing global exposure opportunities. The
name udaan, which is Hindi for "reaching new heights”, reflects the Grant’s purpose:to give high-potential female students a launch beyond the classroom by opening access to cross-border academic experiences, cultural exposure and early
independence.

The Grant is established by Dr Shreya Jajoo (MiM 2016), an entrepreneur and researcher on women's leadership and governance, in memory of her dadaji (paternal grandfather). He gave her a pathway, urging her to see the world beyond India, and instilled in her that curiosity and courage mattered more than staying within familiar walls, making her fearless. This Grant carries that legacy forward by giving talented young women the same pathway he once gave her.
